A numerical scheme for two-dimensional scattering analysis

Saeed Hatamzadeh-Varmazyar, Zahra Masouri

Abstract

The focus of this article is on the analysis of TE-polarized plane wave scattering from perfect electrically conducting (PEC) cylindrical scatterers of arbitrary cross section. For this purpose, two-dimensional magnetic field integral equation (MFIE), formulated for TE polarization, is used as the mathematical model of the problem. For solving the MFIE model, a computational approach based on a set of cardinal basis functions is used to obtain the current distribution induced on the scatterer. The method is numerically evaluated by solving some test problems of various cross sections by which the accuracy and computational efficiency of the method will be demonstrated.
