Analysis of Reliability Characteristics of Four Dissimilar Solar Photovoltaic Systems

S. Kabiru, I. Yusuf, U.A. Ali

Abstract

In this paper, probabilistic models for four redundant solar photovoltaic systems have been developed to analyze and compare their reliability with respect to reliability measures such as mean time to system failure (MTSF) and steady-state availability. A procedure for computing reliability measures in this study is based on the first order linear differential equations. Explicit expressions for mean time to system failure and steady-state busy period for the four redundant solar photovoltaic systems are developed. Furthermore, comparisons are made between the four redundant solar photovoltaic systems based on their mean time to system failure and steady-state availability.
