Solution of a Parabolic Differential Equation with Nonlocal Boundary Conditions Using B-Spline Functions

Mehrdad Lakestani

Abstract

A numerical technique is presented for the solution of a parabolic differential equation with integral boundary conditions. This method uses a family of B-spline functions with different orders. The method consists of expanding the required approximate solution as fifth order B-spline functions. Using derivative matrices, we reduce the problem to a set of algebraic equations. Some numerical examples are included to demonstrate the validity and applicability of the technique. The method is easy to implement and produces very accurate
results.

Keywords
