Dependent Multi-Dimensional Mixed Sampling Plans by Using Gaussian and Poisson Probability Models

S. Deva Arul, K. Rebecca Jebaseeli Edna

Abstract

Due to modern quality control systems, mixed sampling plans are widely applied in various stages of production. The mixed sampling plans are two stage sampling plans in which variable and attribute quality characteristics are used in deciding the acceptance or rejection of the lot or batch. If the sample results of the first stage is utilized in the second stage then it is known to be dependent plan otherwise it is called as independent plan. This paper presents a designing methodology for determining multi-dimensional mixed sampling plans for dependent case. In the first stage of mixed plans, single sampling variable inspection is considered and in the second stage attribute inspection is recommended. In modern quality control system, for a single component or item, several quality characteristics parameters are to be monitored. In industries, if different sampling plans are used for different quality characteristics, then it would result loss in Economy, Time and Labour. The literature is scarce in dependent case of mixed plans. Hence in this paper an attempt has been made to design multi dimensional mixed sampling plans for
dependent case. In this paper Gaussian and Poisson models are considered for variable and attribute characteristics in the first and second stages respectively. Tables are constructed through computational method to facilitate easy application in the Quality Control Section of any industries.
