A Hybrid Method for Image Quantization

P. S. Periasamy, S. Athi Narayanan, K. Duraiswamy

Abstract

In this paper, we present a hybrid method for image quantization. The proposed algorithm is based on adaptive thresholding and iteration principles. The proposed method is able to represent a color image with less number of colors. This method was extensively tested for large set of images and the results are reported here. The quality metrics values of the experimental results show that the proposed method produces excellent results and outperforms existing state-of-the-art color reduction methods.

Keywords
