Hydrogeochemical Characterization of the Tebessa Alluvial Aquifer and the Impact of Triassic Saliferous Formations of Djebissa and Belkefif Mountains (North-East of Algeria)
Abstract
Because of its history, the development of its hydrological regime, recharge-discharge mechanisms, geological formations and the development of its hydrodynamic regime, the groundwater resources of the Tebessa basin show a very wide range of chemistries. In this paper, the hydrochemistry of groundwater is studied through the sampling of wells in the study area. The final hydrochemical members are identified and the sources of salinization of the water are defined. Evaporates in Triassic rocks have been found to be the main contributors to groundwater salinization. The increase in salinity is related to the dissolution and / or precipitation processes during the water-rock interaction and to the cationic exchange between sodium and similar elements.
