Adaptive Refine Mesh Method in 2-Dimensional Image Reconstruction of Continuous Wave-Diffuse Optical Tomography using Model Based Iterative Reconstruction for Quality Control on Carrot

Abstract


In the era of global free trade, the exporter must gain their product quality. This affects the developing of quality control measuring equipment. For an agricultural country like Indonesia, the development is focused on agricultural produce quality control. It is necessary to improve the competitiveness of their agricultural produces. In this research, we try to develop non-invasive defect detection for quality control on agricultural produce. In this field, diffuse optical tomography is promising equipment. This equipment can generate the cross-sectional image from an object, so the defect on agricultural produce can be detected. We have done some research related to this field previously. At this time, the main focus of this paper was to develop and apply the adaptive refine mesh method as an alternative method to improve the quality of 2-D image reconstruction on a ring array continuous wave-domain diffuse optical tomography system for quality control on carrot. To validate our proposed reconstruction method, we conducted this algorithm to reconstruct numerical object and carrot. In this research, we vary the defect position on the real object then we analyze the correlation between reconstructed image from simulated data and experimental data. The results indicate ARM has potential to improve tomographic carrot image precision.
