Detection and Visualization of Brain Tumour using DICOM Images

Abstract
The main cause of brain tumour is abnormal uncontrolled division of cells in brain including skull, pituitary gland, in lymphatic tissue, blood vessels or cranial nerves. In this paper the proposed method leads to detection and visualization of tumour in DICOM Images. The methodology consists of two main steps. In the first step, tumour part is detected by analyzing the given input image. Basic image processing techniques are utilized for the analysis and detection of tumour in the 2D space. Secondly, all the processed image slices are stacked up in order to form a three dimension object in the 3D space. For visualizing the slices in three dimension, 27 slices are pondered and processed. The most critical task is to locate the tumour and find its definite boundary. This procedure provides a specific set of steps to find out the specific boundary of tumour in human brains. The accomplishment of the work, results in complete visualization of the anatomical structure of human brain and the tumour affected area which enables surgeon to better understand and proceed towards diagnostic procedure and treatment.
