Wrapped improved second degree Lindley distribution: properties and application

K. M. Sakthivel, Alshad K.B

Abstract

Recently, many improved and flexible circular distributions have been proposed using existing distributions to promote their applications in diverse fields. In this study, we propose a new circular distribution using the second degree Lindley distribution named as wrapped improved second degree Lindley distribution (WISL). The WISL distribution enjoys a close form density expression and it is more flexible than the wrapped exponential distribution. Some of its statistical properties are examined includes characteristic function and trigonometric moments. The maximum likelihood estimation method is discussed to estimate the parameters of the proposed model. The applicability and goodness of fit of the distribution are demonstrated with real dataset and fit has been compared with some important asymmetric circular distributions available in the literature.

Keywords
