An Asymmetric Probability Model for Circular data: Wrapped Erlang distribution with Application to Blue Periwinkles

In Biology, studies of the Blue Periwinkles lead to circular data. The available methods to analysis circular data are included von Mises, wrapped normal and wrapped Cauchy probability model. In this paper, an asymmetric circular probability model named wrapped Erlang distribution is introduced. The properties, such as characteristic function, trigonometric moments and frequensist parameters of this new probability model are studied. Maximum likelihood estimation using moment methods also outlined. The various methods included wrapped Erlang distribution is compared with a study of real life application to Blue Periwinkles data using goodness of fit test.
