The influence of section changing on hydraulic shock

Ichinur Omer, Dumitru Ion Arsenie

Abstract

The paper presents how the hydraulic shock phenomenon is influenced to a change of the pipe section in pressure hydraulic system (enlarge or decrease of pipe section). The introduction is a summary of hydraulic shock phenomenon, known as water hammer. The calculus relationships for a section where is a change of the diameter are established in the next paragraph, which presents the mathematical model. The following paragraph presents a numerical application considering the schema pump - pipeline - tank and the power failure situation (stopping the pump due to shut off electricity). Some conclusions and a brief references are presented in the end of paper.

Keywords

hydraulic shock (water hammer), pressure pipe, changes of pipe section.
