Further Development of the Overholt-Type Transformations for Accelerating the Convergence of Sequences

R. Thukral

Abstract

We describe three new transformations for accelerating the convergence of scalar sequence. We express these new transformations as classical Overholt transformations. The definitions of the new Overholt-type transformations are given. We examine the effectiveness of these new transformations together with the well established methods for approximating the partial sum of a given power series. Estimates of the partial sum produced by the new Overholt-type
transformations are found to be substantially more accurate than the classical Overholt transformation, the Wimp transformation and other Overholt-type transformations.

Keywords
