Assessment of spatial variations in physico-chemical quality of water of Gujarat Coast
Abstract
The objective of present study is to reveal spatial variations at 16 intertidal locations of Gujarat coast, India. The monitoring of coastal water quality was done on bi-monthly basis for during March-2016 to September 2017. Surface water samples were collected from the selected sampling sites and analysed to provide information regarding spatial variation observed in different water quality parameters. The study revealed that, overall quality of water of Gujarat coast is in a good state suitable for flora and fauna, however, certain areas are under anthropogenic pressure and need continuous monitoring to know its effect on water quality and dependent biotic communities.
