Forest Ecosystems of the Volga River Basin Under Global Climatic Changes (Experience of Landscape-Ecological Prediction)

The topo-ecological prediction concept on the basis of empirical-statistical modeling is given account. The mechanisms of local response to the global warming anticipated during the 21st century have been assessed by the example of forest ecosystems of the Volga river basin. There are predicted the intensive aridization of soil-plant cover ant the general process of “savannization” of the subzone of broad-leaved and fixed forests zone of the Russian Plain.
