Analysis of Land Use and Land Use Change in North-Eastern Germany with Application of Geographic Information System

Igbekele. A. Ajibefun

Abstract

This study uses an integrated model, comprising ecologic, economic and spatial components, using the geographic information system (GIS) methodology to analyse land use changes in Northern part of Germany. Data on soil properties, crops and the yield, production inputs, and output prices, value of premium as well as climatic and other spatial data were used to implement the models. Results indicated that land use and landscape are greatly influenced by changes in price and subsidy policies. Also, different land use intensities determine the erosion risk in the study areas.
