An Approach of using Spatial Fuzzy and Level Set Method for Brain Tumor Segmentation

. Virupakshappa, Basavaraj Amarapur

Abstract

In the present situation it is very necessary for detection of different brain tumors. In this perspective there are plenty of techniques considered in the field of image processing which are introduced and implemented. The work in this paper presents an efficient method for separating tumor region from the segmented image by computer based analysis of MRI of brain. Main focus in this work is for accurate tumor segmentation by applying Spatial Fuzzy Clustering technique. This is a hybrid clustering technique obtained by combining two efficient clustering techniques namely level set and fuzzy c means techniques of clustering. From the fuzzy c-means clustering technique from the results of fuzzy it will be comparatively easy to estimate the segmentation level by controlling parameters; this is effectively achieved by combining both the algorithm to form spatial fuzzy clustering techniques. Such enhancement leads to accurate image segmentation. This is a compatible and effective method for segmentation proved from the outcome of the work proposed. An experimental result witnesses the effect of presented methodology with the overall accuracy of 94.32 %.

Keywords
