Abstract

In this paper, we propose an image encryption method based on the extended logistic map and the Dynamic Vigenère Cipher (DVC). This encryption process is based on the two basic concepts of security, namely confusion and diffusion. This new crypto system is based on four major steps: The first is the generation of pseudo-random keys required for encryption, the second step eliminates the strong correlation of the adjacent pixels by means of a permutation of the clear image, the third step leads to a change in the intensities of the pixels through application of the substitution by DVC, finally, for resistance to any differential attack, a strong diffusion will be introduced, such as a simple perturbation on any pixel will affect the entire image. The results of security analysis verify the affectivity of the proposed method. The designed system guarantees a high degree of security, and is protected from any known attack.
