Measuring and Visualizing Pulse Wave Using an Electret Microphone

Nina Zorina, Timur Khabibullin, Anastasia Tolstaya, Polina Tolstaya

Abstract

Pulse is a vibration of the walls of the arteries associated with the cardiac cycle. The paper proposes a method for measuring and visualizing heart rate and respiratory rate by the electret microphone. The described solution allows us to consider a microphone as an alternative to infrared sensors. The results of the experiment confirm that it is possible to use a new type of sensor (microphone) to obtain information about the pulse and breathing of a person.

Keywords
