Integrated Assessment of Environmental Costs of National Economy: A Case Study

Abstract



Environmental conditions of the national economy development are determined. The authors propose the mechanism for the integrated assessment of environmental costs based on the correction factors for regions of Ukraine. The authors propose the main components of the mechanism: correction factor that takes into account the number of inhabitants of the area; the correction factor that takes into account the economic importance of the region; the correction factor, which takes into account the background level of pollution ;the correction factor, which takes into account the vulnerability of public health ;the correction factor, which takes into account the potential of reproduction of ecosystems; the correction factor, which takes into account the time factor. All these factors are to provide the integrated assessment of environmental costs of ecological, economic and social factors. The authors highlighted that in a case of integrated assessment of environmental costs it would have a lot of ecological, economic and social positive effects in regions. One of the main effects is the reducing of the environmental damage. In the article authors estimated the environmental costs with correction factors system and without it. According to the results the environmental costs are enough high in Ukraine.
