Fractal Characterization of Rainfall in Benin

J. Deguenon, A. Bărbulescu

Abstract

In this article we consider the series of monthly cumulated precipitation registered at six meteorological stations in Bénin in the period 1963 – 2007, we study their stationarity and their fractal properties. Similar values of fractal dimensions have been determined by the different methods (Higuchi, Aggvar, RS, GPH, SPer) for all the series, revealing their homogenous behaviour.

Keywords

Statistical analysis, fractal, precipitation, long range dependence.
