Bayesian Analysis for the Exponentiated Half Logistic Distribution Based on Record Values

Jung-In Seo, Suk-Bok Kang

Abstract

This paper addresses Bayesian estimation and prediction problems for the exponentiated half logistic distribution based on lower record values. First, statistical properties of the lower record values from the exponentiated half logistic distribution are derived, and then Bayesian estimation methods of unknown parameters and prediction methods based on observed and replicated lower record values are proposed. Finally, they are applied to analysis rainfall data recorded at the Los Angeles Civic Center, and quality of the estimated model is evaluated through posterior predictive checking.

Keywords

Bayesian estimation, Bayesian prediction, exponentiated half logistic distribution, lower record value.
