3D Reconstruction of Historical and Cultural Architecture Based on S-ICP Algorithm

Yonggang Hao, Jianghai Ji, Xuyang Zhao

Abstract

With the development of 3D laser scanning technology, it is more and more popular to protect the buildings and promote reverse engineering with 3D laser scanning technology together with computer. However, due to the diversity and complexity of the building, the large amount of data generated in digitalization of buildings cannot guarantee an accurate expression of building model. In view of this problem, this paper presents a 3D reconstruction algorithm of historical and cultural buildings based on S-ICP algorithm, achieving the optimal transform by the least square method and meeting the convergence through "looking for corresponding point sets and calculating optimal transform". The simulation results show that the S-ICP algorithm model in this paper is superior to traditional algorithms not only in the time, but also in the registration precision. It effectively shortens registration time in the process of registration.
