Abstract



The role of librarian in the exponentially growing digital environment has become quite challenging. The existing skill and knowledge of library professional do not serve the changing information needs and growth of library services. Due to lack of proper manpower training, library professionals can not develop his attitude, skills, quality and knowledge with the accelerated technology and updated information to serve the user community. In further training also positively associated with the employee’s job satisfaction and having relationship with the measures of job performance. Training is the act of increasing the knowledge and skill of an employee for doing his/her job. Knowing this fact present study examines the present trends in training and development of special libraries professionals in India. It focuses on the demographics, essentialness of training, mode, nature, frequency of training of professionals.
