Comparative Analysis of Point-based and Silhouette-based Object Identification Techniques

Mayur Rahul

Abstract

Object Detection and Recognition are most challenging and difficult tasks in human-computer interaction and digital image processing. A lot of research has been done in computer vision field but intelligent, efficient, robust, usable object recognition methods are still very difficult to develop. The level of accuracy of the algorithm develops so far are very low. This paper describes the various techniques of object identification and recognition, and also describes the differentiation between point and silhouette based object identification techniques. Most important works are discussed and highlighted. Advantages of each and every technique are discussed. The objective of the given paper is to present the paper as a useful quick overview and useful as a beginner’s guide for object identification field. According to the content presented here, researchers can choose a technique suitable for their own specific object identification problem and further optimize the chosen technique for better accuracy in object identification.
