Abstract



This paper discusses about the importance of vehicle lane categorization using speed and size of the vehicle. The concept of this system is based upon the calculation of speed and size of any vehicle running on the highway and lane categorization of the vehicles based on their size and speed. The proposed method categorizes the vehicles based on their size because generally on Indian highways speed limit is proposed for different size/category of the vehicles for eg. Car, bus and other heavy vehicles. After categorizing vehicles based on their size, the system estimates the speed of the individual vehicle running on the road in the camera view. The system checks for any speed anomaly and if detected, the system informs about the speed anomaly to the concerned authority via SMS or sending the image of the vehicle via MMS.
