An Evolutionary Algorithm based Multiscale Digital Image Watermarking Technique using Discrete Wavelet Transform and Singular Value Decomposition

Ravindra Kr. Purwar, Anchal Jain

Abstract

In this paper, a digital image watermarking scheme using discrete wavelet transform (DWT) and singular value decomposition (SVD) using multiscale factor has been proposed. A three level DWT has been performed on the cover image and then SVD is applied on all the four sub-bands. After applying 1 level DWT followed by SVD on the watermark image, the singular values of all sub-bands of cover image are modified by embedding the singular values of the corresponding sub-bands of watermark image. Different scaling factors have been used for different sub-bands which are computed using differential evolution as an evolutionary algorithm. The proposed technique has been compared with another image watermarking technique in terms of Peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR) and normalized correlation (NC) values. The proposed technique has better imperceptibility of the watermark and robustness against attacks and therefore, a good method for digital image watermarking.
