Reconstruction of Multislice Image in Electrical Impedance Tomography

Deddy Kurniadi

Abstract

Electrical Impedance Tomography is an imaging technique which is able to reconstruct an image of the distribution of electrical impedance such as resistivity from knowledge of the boundary voltage and current on the object. EIT offers a possibility of realizing a low cost and safe imaging system. In this study, the multislice image reconstruction using the single step Regularized Newton method and Spline interpolation is described. This single step algorithm is an approximate to a linear reconstruction algorithm and used for reconstructing the 2-D image of slice. The Spline interpolation
is used for obtaining the 2-D image of a number slices placed between two reconstructed images. All 2-D image obtained from Spline interpolation are placed as a multislice image and we put to form the 3-D image. The well-known Tikhonov regularization technique is employed to solve the ill
posed problem appeared in the reconstruction process. As the illustration, some numerical simulations for cylindrical object were presented and discussed.
