Radiation Effects on MHD Convective Flow of a Jeffrey Fluid in A Vertical Porous Channel with Soret Effect

Abstract



This paper investigates the influence of variable viscosity and Soret effect on MHD Jeffrey fluid flow in a vertical porous channel in the presence of radiation and wall slip condition. The highly nonlinear coupled differential equations governing the momentum, energy and concentration fields are solved by using perturbation technique. The expressions for velocity, temperature and concentration have been constructed and the effects of pertinent parameters on flow, heat and mass transfer characteristics are discussed with the aid of figures. It is found that, increasing slip parameter, Prandtl number and magnetic parameter tends to enhance pressure gradient while radiation parameter lead to suppress pressure gradient. It is also observed that slip parameter and magnetic parameter tends to reduce total rate heat significantly but the opposite trend can be noticed with increasing Soret number and viscosity parameter. Due to increase of slip parameter, total rate species added to the fluid decreases whereas the reverse effect can be observed with increasing material parameter. In addition, increasing material parameter is lead to enhance the skin friction at the right wall while this behavior is reversed with an increase of Grashof number.
