An Improved Estimator of the Population Mean under Double Sampling using Median

R. E. Kurbah, P. Khongji

Abstract

It is a well-known fact that the utilization of auxiliary information for estimating a parameter of a study variable enhances the efficiency of the estimator. In this paper, we have considered a regression estimator under doubling sampling involving two auxiliary variables which makes use of the sample mean and sample median of the auxiliary variables of both phases. It is found that the proposed estimator is more efficient than the one proposed by Vadlamudi (2017) with one auxiliary variable. The study was tested empirically using simulated data. The study is also generalized for k(greater than 1) variables.
