Parameter estimation for the modified Weibull distribution based on grouped and censored data

Ibrahim A. Al-Wasel

Abstract

The paper considers a formal generalization of the Weibull distribution proposed in the paper Lai C.D. et al. (2003). It is shown by an example based on the real data that this distribution is more appropriate as a true distribution of a life-time of tested objects than the usual Weibull distribution and its generalizations proposed in Mudholkar et all (1995). The comparison of the censored reliability models is fulfilled by the likelihood ratio test. The parameter estimation is fulfilled by the method of maximum likelihood and numerical simulations

Keywords

Lifetime and censored data, point and interval estimates, maximum likelihood estimate
