Optimization of Reasonable Pressure Level Limit of Advanced Water Injection in Fractured Low-Permeability Sandstone Reservoirs

Song Guoliang, Zhang Chengli

Abstract

Mathematical models were established for the production rate and pressure distribution in fractured low-permeability sandstone reservoir with non-Darcy percolation in this study. The analytical solutions to the mathematical models were also obtained. With the established models, simulation calculation was performed for advanced water injection, in order to study the optimization of reasonable pressure level limit of advanced water injection in fractured low-permeability sandstone reservoirs. The result showed that during simultaneous water injection, the reservoir pressure around the production well gradually decreases while the pressure around the injection well gradually increases, although a steady state is also reached after six months, the pressure values at different points of the well drainage area are significantly lower than those in advanced water injection, in addition, there exist an obvious ascending process of the reservoir pressure around the injection well. For the Chang-10 block, the original reservoir pressure is 7.3 MPa, and the pressure coefficient is 0.8. With advanced water injection, the reasonable pressure level is maintained 1.3 times the original, i.e. 9.68 MPa. The successful application of advanced water injection development technology has some guidance on low-permeability oilfield development.
