Establishment and Numerical Simulation of Seepage Mathematical Model of Foam Flooding

Yazhou Zhou, Daiyin Yin, Rui Cao, Bin Liu

Abstract

With the development of computer, applied mathematics and reservoir engineering, numerical simulation was widely used to study the migration mode of reservoir fluid. Based on the seepage mechanism of foam in reservoir and the principle of mass conservation of foam component, in this paper, a three-dimensional three-phase five-component mathematical model of foam flooding was established. The physical and chemical phenomena of adsorptions viscosity change, resistance effect and displacement efficiency improvement of form fluid on the rock during its migration in reservoir were considered, and IMPES was used for differential solution. The advantages of this method are less memory occupation, less computing workload, easy to use and the numerical simulation software was written in Delphi 7. Numerical simulation and laboratory experiment were fitted based on the data obtained from the laboratory core flooding experiment of foam flooding. The results showed that the simulation data at each state were basically same as those from the experiment and the drops of water cut were identical. It indicated that the seepage characteristics of foam in reservoir can be simulated well by the mathematical model. And the sensitivity analysis on foam flooding was conducted by the numerical simulation method.
