Empirical Analysis of Pharmaceutical Industry Competitiveness

Abstract


The pharmaceutical industry is closely relevant to a number of factors, such as the support of Government, factor endowments, market conditions, industrial basics, economic level and so on, they have obvious regional characteristics. According to the characteristics and trends of the pharmaceutical industry, we construct an evaluation index system of regional competitiveness of the pharmaceutical industry, which includes five aspects, namely, the industry scale, production technology, operational and management capacity, the development of space and government efforts to support, and further selects a manner representative of the 18 sub-factors as the evaluation indices. We conduct an empirical test for regional competitiveness of five provinces’ pharmaceutical industry in North China by principal component analysis. Finally, there are some suggestions about the layout of regional pharmaceutical industry and the development priorities in North China.
