Analysis of Non-agricultural Land Eco-efficiency Considering the Carbon Emission in Build-up Regions

Wei Cui, Junchao Feng, Jianjun Miao

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to explore the relationshipe between eco-efficiency of non-agricultural land with solution of China’s land waste.A DEA Model of carbon emission constraints is applied to calculate the eco-efficiency of non-agricultural land, the conflict coefficient between land protection and economic development, and the environmental cost of farmland conversion in 30 China’s provincial built-up regions. The results show that the eco-efficiency of the non-agricultural land is generally low, and there are different degrees of land-waste in other regions, among regions, only Hainan’s eco-effciency in the production frontier; the conflict coefficient between land protection and economic development in other regions is higher except Hainan, especially it is difficult to coordinate the relationship between cultivated land protection and econmic development in western China; the environmental cost in east caused by farmland conversion is higher than central and western regions. This paper might contribute to sloving the conflict of economic development and land protection.
