A Robust Watermarking Algorithm for Medical Volume Data Based on Hermite Chaotic Neural Network

Baoru Han, Jingbing Li

Abstract

This paper presents a digital watermarking algorithm for medical volume data to protect the three-dimensional medical image information. Firstly, the watermark algorithm converts the medical image from two-dimensional into three-dimensional medical volume data. Then the reconstructed medical volume data is conducted by global three-dimensional discrete cosine transform. The three-dimensional discrete cosine transform with low frequency coefficients are selected as symbol of medical volume data to construct the zero watermarking. It not only has stronger resistance to conventional attacks, but also has strong robustness resistant to geometric attacks. Meanwhile, the algorithm uses chaotic neural network for scrambling and encryption, through which “one-time pad" encryption can be achieved. The watermark extraction key sequence is hard to be cracked. So the algorithm has a higher safety performance. The experiment results indicate that the algorithm has a better robustness and security, and plays a role in protecting three-dimensional medical images.
