Cooperative Wireless Multihop Networks: A Study

M. Anugraha, A. Anitha, J. Jaya Kumari

Abstract

In multihop wireless network there are one or more intermediate nodes along the path that receive and forward packets via wireless links. Multihop wireless networks have several benefits compared with networks with single wireless link. Mulihop wireless networks can extend the network coverage and improve connectivity. A multi-hop wireless network is a network in which a packet traversed in multiple successive wireless links to reach its destination. It is similar to mobile adhoc networks, but nodes in multi-hop wireless network are fixed. In case of dense multihop networks, several path might become available that can be used to increase the robustness of the network. Cooperative relaying was proposed to allow the virtual multipoint-to-point links. These virtual nodes are grouped together and deliver the data to a common destination. This paper surveys different wireless Multihop network algorithms which obtained optimal throughput by delivering the data to destination through various number of intermediate nodes.
