Abstract

A model of bone remodeling taking into account the viscoelastic properties of the material is proposed. The nonlinear equations governing the evolution of the bone apparent density are solved by a finite difference method in the one dimensional case of a model with N element units. We will study the influence of viscous damping on the adaptation of the structure under the e¤ect of a controlled mechanical loading.

Keywords

Bone remodelling, viscoelasticity, osteocytes; apparent density, finite difference method.
