Image Denoising using Angular Packet Representation

Abstract


We describe a new method for removing noise from digital images based on the select of the best angular decomposition for image denoising. We propose a new representation that we namely call the angular packet representation, defined by a recursive directional decomposition. The result is a dictionary of different tight frames, which provides a theoretical tool to select a best representation for image denoising by minimizing an estimated error to improve image denoising.
