Use of Fractional Domain for Speech Enhancement

R. Ram, M. N. Mohanty

Abstract

Background noise removal is a complex task that causes the signal quality degradation. In this paper, the work is carried with Fractional transforms to enhance the performance. Initially, Fractional Fourier transform is utilized to design the filter. Further, Fractional Discrete Cosine transform (FrDCT) is used for the same and compared. The results found for different noise environment that Fractional Discrete Cosine transform outperforms the Fractional Fourier transform (FrFT) result in terms of Signal-to-Noise-Ratio (SNR) and easier computation.
