Abstract

To simplify the encoding process, we propose the compressive sampling (CS) with coefficient thresholding in a video coding system. By applying a sparsifying transform, we acquire a sparser signal in DCT basis. A couple of tests are conducted. The first one is to decide the threshold value between significant and non-significant coefficient. The second test is to decide whether a particular block is suitable for compressive or conventional sampling. We derive those threshold values analytically and verify them by simulation. Then, a random Gaussian measurement matrix performs projection on the sample vector to yield a smaller vector. Simulation results show that the required compressive sampling threshold depends on the specified measurement rate. This is in agreement with the theoretical analysis.
