Translation, Rotation, and Scale Invariant Character Recognition using Modified Ring Projection

Kaiser Niknam, Gholam Reza Kaka

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to present a modified version of the ring projection for invariant character recognition. In the modified ring projection, we integrate the horizontally scaled function instead of the function itself along a circular ring around the center of mass. Then it is showed that the modified ring projection is invariant to translation, rotation, scaling, and reflection. As an experimental evaluation, we applied the method to recognize two sets of artificially generated images. The results showed that the modified ring projection method is an efficient technique which can be used for reliable invariant character recognition.
