Hybrid Dual-Tree Wavelet Transform and Adaptive Threshold for Image Denoising

Hala S. Own, Neveen I. Ghali, Aboul Ella Hassanien

Abstract

The paper presents an improvement of image denoising algorithm based on adaptive threshold using Dual-tree complex wavelet transform (DT-CWT) and multiresolution local contrast entropy (MLCE). The proposed adaptive threshold enables the denoising technique to be adaptive to unknown smoothness of the noisy images. To evaluate the performance of presented algorithm, we present simulation results that shows the performance of the proposed image denoising algorithm, and a comparative analysis with other popular denoising algorithms such as VisuShrink, Wiener2 and our previous work based on DWT.
