Spread Spectrum Image Watermarking with High Capacity Embedding
Steganography, which means “covered writing” in Greek, is the science of communicating information in a hidden manner. This system hides and recovers a message of substantial length within digital imagery while maintaining the original image size and dynamic range. The hidden message can be recovered using appropriate keys without any knowledge of the original image. A message embedded is called as a watermark which can be in the form of text, image, or any other digital signal mainly useful for authorization, authentication and tamper detection. This paper is intended for technical introduction to the Spread Spectrum Image Watermarking. It also focuses on the important parameter i.e. Watermarking Capacity which is an evaluation of how much information can be hidden in a digital image. We tried to determine this capacity by statistical model used for the host image, with distortion constraints. The mathematical support given finds the fundamental limit of watermark information that can be embedded in the form of noise while satisfying the invisibility and robustness of watermarking. Thus, the study and observations made in this paper give a strong basis for more effective watermarking algorithms to be designed.
