A Scalable Agent Based Model for Building Security Simulation

Andreea Ion, Vlad Constantinescu, Monica Patrascu, Monica Dragoicea

Abstract

Intelligent agents have successfully solved many problems toward a better management of the systems that can help society. Nowadays, an important role in assuring quality-of-life is delegated to both security systems and real-time communication between the entities involved. In this paper, a scalable agent based model is presented, whose implementation is built on the concept of intelligent building control and monitoring system offered through the CitySCAPE architecture and its base unit, the cell agent. The cell agent is a multi-agent system, formed of components that communicate by sending aperiodic messages, over a network, and it is capable of controlling different systems, depending on their assigned task. Based on the cell agent and its properties, the extended cell concept was developed with consideration to how these agents interact. The presented approach is an agent-based solution, scalable for large and complex systems. To demonstrate the mentioned properties, a simulation was realized for improving building security, in which autonomous agents distributed over a network, cooperate.
