Comparison of Estimates using Record Values from Frechet Model: BLUE and NBLUE Approaches

This article addresses the problem of estimation of scale parameter using record values from Frechet model with known shape. The Best Linear Unbiased Estimate (BLUE) and Nearly Best Linear Unbiased Estimate (NBLUE) of the scale parameter of Frechet distribution under lower record values are derived. The formulas and computational procedure of lower record values are also presented. To compare the results of both estimators, the relative efficiency of the obtained estimates is computed. This study concludes that the BLUE method can be replaced by the NBLUE method when variance covariance matrix does not exist.
