The copula approach to sample selection model for dependence structure between participation and income of Iranian female head of household

S. Shams, S. Rezaee

Abstract

According to Sklar’s theorem, multivariate distribution functions can be presented by it’s marginal distributions and copula function. The copula approach permits selection modeling based on multivariate non-normality. In this paper the copula approach is applied to construct models for dependence structure between participation and income of Iranian female head of household, for data that may suffer from selectivity bias. This bias that results from non-randomly selected samples to estimate behavioral function between participation and income, is discussed.
