Selection of Minimum Size Repetitive Group Sampling Inspection Plans

R. Vijayaraghavan, D. Rajalakshmi, A. Loganathan

Abstract

Sampling inspection deals with procedures, called sampling plans, which are employed for drawing inferences about lots of finished products based on the results of the inspection of one or more samples, and can also be used for in-process and service inspections, not necessarily finished products. A sampling plan is usually specified by one or more parameters such as sample size(s) and acceptance number(s). The determination of the parameters of a sampling plan based on its operating characteristic curve providing protection to the producer and the consumer is called designing a sampling plan. This paper presents a search procedure for designing a repetitive group sampling plan for two specified points on the operating characteristic curve, namely, acceptable quality level and limiting quality level associated with the specified producer’s risk and consumer’s risk. A pair of computer programs using C language is developed for determining the parameters of the plan under the conditions of binomial and Poisson distributions. Tables providing the parameters of the plans for various values of acceptable quality level and limiting quality level are also presented.
