On Ordered Principles: Order Regression, Inter-Quantile Inference and Truncated Distributions

Ana Paula Martins

Abstract

This research explores estimation and hypothesis testing procedures for single or doubly truncated distributions with (potentially) unknown truncation points. Three (main) types of estimation approaches are considered:
* moment combined with extreme values estimators;
* nonlinear estimation of the cdf evaluated at the order statistics - rank-based adjustment of the cumulative distribution function: method of order statistics (MOS), presented in minimum distance and generalized (optimally weighted) versions; and
* maximum likelihood.

Keywords

Single and Doubly Truncated Inference in the Presence of Unknown Truncation Points: Truncated Populations. Inter - quantile / Truncated estimation (regression, inference). Truncated Regression. Order Regression.
