Image Colorization Using Deep Learning

Meharban M S

Abstract

Image colorization is the process of assigning colors to a grayscale image to make it more appealing and meaningful. This is known to be a sophisticated task that often requires prior knowledge about the image content. Since objects can be in different colors, there are many possible ways to assign colors to pixels in an image, which means there is no unique solution to this problem. We can find a lot of grayscale images, whether it be in old photographs, bio􀀀medical images or the output of Infrared Cameras. In this paper, we present a system with Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), which is able to automatically
colorize any given input grayscale image.
