Abstract

Sketch-based face recognition plays a vital role in law enforcement and security agencies to identify the suspect and to solve criminal cases. Due to the high modality gap between real images and sketches, matching the real images against face sketches is a challenging and important topic in sketch-based face recognition community. In this paper, we proposed a new method to tackle this issue. Furthermore, benchmark performances against various feature extraction techniques including Monogenic Binary Coding (MBC), Improved Weber Binary Pattern (IWBP), Local Directional Pattern (LDP), Local Binary Pattern (LBP), Gradient Directional Pattern (GDP) and Histogram of Gradient (HOG) using the proposed method is analyzed. To analyze benchmark performance of the proposed method a number of datasets with three different types of sketches i.e. hand-drawn viewed sketches, hand-drawn forensic sketches and sketches from sketching software are
used. Experimental results show that the proposed method achieves satisfactory performance.
